As a social service professional, you will at some point in your career encounter a client who is or has been a victim of domestic violence. More than one in three women experience domestic violence in their lifetimes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It is important that you have a working knowledge of this public health issue in order to best serve these clients. The goal of this massive open online course is to educate you on the dynamics and patterns of domestic violence.

The eight-module course provides a graphic-rich environment, videos, interactive training elements, online resources, and a certificate of training upon successful completion. The course delivers the essentials of what you need to know to ensure victims of domestic violence receive the necessary support and resources. This knowledge will help you develop compassionate and meaningful interactions with victims, which can make a significant difference in their lives.

Florida State University’s Institute for Family Violence Studies, College of Social Work, College of Communication and Information, and Office of Distance Learning collaborated on this project.
