Monica Chiarini Tremblay is the chair, faculty director of the Masters of Health Informatics and Management Systems and an Associate Professor of Decision Sciences and Information Systems Department, College of Business, Florida International University. Dr. Tremblay’s research has focused on data science, particularly in the healthcare context. Dr. Tremblay teaches courses in data warehousing and data mining. Dr. Tremblay is frequently invited as an expert panelist in the area of Data Analytics and Health Informatics for international industry and academic conferences.
In 2012, Dr. Tremblay was elected as one of FIU Top Scholars. She is currently the principal investigator on several federal and state grants in the area of Health IT and analytics and a study session member for the HITR section of Agency Healthcare Research Quality (NIH). Dr. Tremblay serves as a Senior Editor of the Production and Operations Management (POM) Journal and for Health Systems Journal.
Dr. Tremblay is dedicated to community service; she serves as an advisor on several committees including the Technical Advisory Panel for the Health Council of South Florida’s (HCSF) for the Miami Community Health Survey project and the Technical Advisory Panel for the Health Council of South Florida’s (HCSF) Miami Matters, and the steering committee (Workforce Development Sub-Committee) of the South Florida Regional Extension Center (SFREC). Dr. Tremblay holds dual Italian/U.S. nationalities and was raised in Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil and the Dominican Republic.
